Parents, start those timers and mark those calendars: The Bluey Movie has a release date.
It’s August 6, 2027. A mere 701 days away.
We first heard that a feature-length film based on the incredibly popular Australian kids TV series was in development in 2024, and it will feature the titular blue heeler dog, Bluey, and her parents, Chili and Bandit, and little sister Bingo. Series creator Joe Brumm will write, direct, and executive produce the film, and the show’s voice actors Melanie Zanetti (Chili) and David McCormack (Bandit) will be back to reprise their roles. Ludo, the longtime studio for the series, will handle the animation.
Hooray! The all-new feature length #Bluey movie is coming only to cinemas on August 6, 2027!

Any adult who has ever watched (and watched, and watched again, ad nauseum) Bluey with their children (or not—no judgement, it’s great), having a firm release date is cause for celebration and not a little relief.
But for Disney, which streams the series on Disney+, Bluey represents the latest claim on kids’ attention in 2027. As we learned over the weekend, the studio plans to release the next Ice Age movie, Burning Point, on February 5, 2027. That film will be the franchise’s first outing since Disney acquired Blue Sky as a result of buying Fox, later shutting the animation studio down. Also on the docket for 2027 are Pixar’s Gatto on June 18, 2027, and—another megahit in the making—Frozen 3 on November 24. Prepare to spend a lot on movie tickets.
But back to Bluey. At the time when the Bluey film was first announced, series creator Brumm revealed he’d depart after production on the film wrapped. It remains unclear whether the show will go on after that, but Disney and the BBC will likely reveal more as the film inches closer to release.
