The Blackview XPLORE 2, a specialized rugged smartphone designed for outdoor enthusiasts and remote professionals who require portable projection capabilities, caught some attention at MWC 2026.
Combining a durable chassis with high-end internal specifications, the device, which also showed up at the Showstoppers event, functions as both a communication tool and a mobile media hub.
Rugged Design and Display
Built to withstand extreme environments, the XPLORE 2 features IP68, IP69K, and MIL-STD-810H certifications, ensuring resistance to water, dust, and significant drops. The device is notably bulky, weighing 710g and measuring 29mm in thickness. Its front is dominated by a 6.73-inch 3.2K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 2,600 nits, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
Projector and Multimedia Features
The headline feature is a top-mounted projector capable of displaying an image up to 100 inches. While it offers auto-vertical keystone correction and decent tonal quality, the resolution is limited to 480p with a brightness of 100 lumens. This makes it suitable for casual media or basic presentations in dark environments, though small text may be difficult to read. The audio is provided by a 2W internal speaker, though its performance is modest, often necessitating an external Bluetooth connection for a better experience.
Technical Performance and Battery
Under the hood, the phone is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8300 5G processor. It offers significant memory and storage configurations, supporting up to 16 GB of physical RAM and 1 TB of internal storage (expandable to 3 TB). To support both the projector and standard use, it houses a substantial 20,000 mAh battery with 120W fast charging.
Camera and Software
The device includes a 50MP Samsung main camera, a 50MP selfie camera, and a 20MP Sony night vision sensor. Running DokeOS 4.2 (based on Android 15), the software includes a suite of AI-enhanced creative tools for photo editing and productivity, though some features require a subscription for full access.
The Blackview Xplore 2 is a niche device that prioritizes durability and utility, retailing for approximately $780. There’s also a variant with satellite communications, which has basically the same specs but ditches the projector.
