Acemagic Retro X5 Blends NES Design, Retro Gaming, And AI Power

Acemagic officially announced the Retro X5, a small PC that combines a retro look with modern power. It openly draws inspiration for its design from the original Nintendo Entertainment System. The device targets users who enjoy retro game emulation and compact multimedia setups, joining classic looks with the most current hardware.

The original NES ran at very slow speeds, while the Retro X5 is a high-performance machine that can easily support demanding emulators and even everyday computing tasks, thanks to its AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processor with up to 12 CPU cores, up to 5.1 GHz of frequency, and an integrated neural processing unit for AI work. That makes it more powerful than most mini PCs.

The device serves mainly for retro gaming. The Retro X5 should work with Acemagic’s RetroPlay Box system, a system aimed at giving an integrated, easy-to-use experience. It should include a dedicated interface with organized emulators so users can load their own game ROMs and start playing with little setup.

AI capabilities also play a significant role in Acemagic’s vision with the Retro X5. The company intends to develop the RetroPlay Box with included AI features such as personalized game recommendations, in-game help, and automatic translation for titles that weren’t officially localized. These functions would all be executed locally on the Ryzen processor’s neural processing unit, minimizing cloud services usage and, subsequently, latency.

The Retro X5 continues with its NES-inspired look in design and connectivity, utilizing modern sizes and ports. Promo images show it with USB-A, USB-C, and a front headphone jack for easy use with controllers and accessories.

Acemagic hasn’t announced price, release timing, or full technical details, but the Retro X5 seems like an interesting option among retro mini PCs as it combines strong hardware with nostalgic appeal, and also potentially will add AI features in the future.
