Apple has regained momentum in the global computer market, achieving above-average performance in the third quarter of 2025. According to data released by Counterpoint Research, Mac shipments increased by 14.9% compared to the same period last year, outpacing the overall PC market growth of 8.1%. This surge places Apple close behind Lenovo, the current market leader, and slightly ahead of ASUS, consolidating its position as one of the top players in the industry.
The growth in Mac sales is largely attributed to the success of recent MacBook models (like the recently released MacBook Pro 14″ M5) and the rising corporate adoption of Apple computers. Additionally, the end of Windows 10 support and strategic inventory adjustments driven by new U.S. import policies have played a key role in boosting Apple’s performance.
In the brand ranking, Lenovo maintained its leadership with a 17% increase in shipments, followed by Apple’s strong 14.9% rise and ASUS’s 14% growth. Dell, however, experienced a 1% decline, and the collective category of “Others” dropped by 3%. These results highlight a broader recovery in the PC market, which had slowed down after the pandemic-driven demand surge.
The report emphasizes that consumers and businesses are increasingly seeking energy-efficient laptops with seamless hardware-software integration, areas where Apple has shown a competitive edge. The company’s M-series processors continue to attract professionals and enterprises looking for performance and power efficiency, reinforcing the appeal of Macs in both personal and business segments.
Looking ahead, Counterpoint Research predicts that the next significant phase of growth will stem from the rise of AI-powered PCs. These systems, expected to become mainstream starting in 2026, will feature new AI-focused chipsets capable of handling advanced machine learning tasks directly on the device. Major manufacturers — including Apple, Lenovo, and ASUS — are already positioning themselves to lead this upcoming shift.
As the industry transitions toward intelligent computing, competition is expected to intensify, with brands racing to integrate AI capabilities that enhance user experience and productivity.
