Samsung Galaxy S26 Gets AirDrop Support Via Quick Share Rollout

Samsung has confirmed that it will begin rolling out support for AirDrop functionality through Quick Share, starting with the Galaxy S26 series. The rollout is scheduled to begin on March 23, initially launching in South Korea. Availability in the United States is expected later in the same week, followed by expansion into additional regions including Europe, Hong Kong, Japan, Latin America, North America, Southeast Asia, and Taiwan.

The feature will be introduced on the Galaxy S26, S26 Plus, and S26 Ultra models first. Samsung also indicated that other Galaxy devices will receive support in the future, although no specific timeline has been provided for those updates.

This cross-platform sharing capability was first introduced on Google Pixel 10 devices in late 2025 and has recently been extended to the Pixel 9 lineup. Samsung’s adoption represents a broader effort to improve interoperability between Android devices and Apple products, particularly for file sharing.

Unlike Google’s implementation on Pixel devices, Samsung’s version of AirDrop over Quick Share will not be enabled by default. Users will need to manually activate a setting labeled “Share with Apple devices” within the Quick Share menu. To successfully transfer files between Galaxy devices and iPhones, both users must ensure that their devices are set to allow sharing with “Everyone.” This requirement applies regardless of which device initiates the transfer.

The move suggests a continued push toward cross-platform compatibility in file sharing technologies. Other manufacturers are also expected to adopt similar functionality. Oppo, for example, has announced plans to introduce AirDrop-compatible Quick Share support on its devices before the end of the month.

Overall, the expansion of AirDrop-like functionality within the Android ecosystem reflects a growing emphasis on easier communication between different platforms, addressing a long-standing limitation in file sharing between Android and Apple devices.
