YouTube TV Updates Mobile Live Guide With Redesigned Interface on Android And iOS

YouTube TV has begun widely rolling out a redesigned Live Guide interface for its Android and iOS applications, bringing the mobile experience closer to the layout previously introduced on television platforms in 2023. The update replaces the older Live tab design, which primarily displayed a simple vertical list of channels with a preview fixed at the top of the screen.

The new Live Guide, as noticed by 9t05Google, emphasizes improved information density and easier navigation. Channel icons are now positioned along the left side of the screen, allowing users to view multiple channels at once. Program listings extend horizontally, enabling users to swipe to see upcoming shows and scheduling information. A prominent red “Jump to live” button appears at the bottom of the interface, allowing viewers to quickly return to the current broadcast while browsing.

Additional program details are also integrated into the guide; users can see the total runtime of a show and how much time remains in the current broadcast. A “Sort” menu is available in the top-left corner, offering options to organize channels or content more efficiently based on user preferences.

Interaction with individual programs has also been updated. By long-pressing on a listing, users can access a floating information panel that displays a preview, description, and several actions. These include adding the program to the library, setting a reminder, navigating directly to the program page, or switching to the channel. Unlike previous versions, this information appears in a floating sheet rather than being fixed to the bottom of the screen, making it easier to browse without losing context.

While the Live Guide redesign modernizes a key part of the app, other areas such as the Home and Library tabs have not yet received similar visual updates. The app also continues to use older icons in the bottom navigation bar, indicating that a broader redesign aligned with YouTube’s latest design language may still be in progress.

Users who do not yet see the updated Live Guide are advised to ensure they are running the latest version of the YouTube TV app and restart it, as the rollout is being delivered gradually.
